The Result: The customer received a heat exchanger
that met their size, pressure drop and corrosion requirements.
The manufacturer of dialysis equipment needed a tube-in-tube heat
exchanger to preheat the water used by the equipment.
One specification was that the material for the exchanger had to
withstand a highly corrosive cleaning solution used to sterilize the
machine between patients. Normal stainless steel grades of material
would not hold up.
Through research, Delta t discovered a stainless steel material that
would withstand the corrosive action of the cleaning fluid. Samples were
made for the customer to test. The heat exchange rate passed, the
pressure drop was within specification, the tube material passed the
corrosion test; however, the weld metal corroded.
Through more consultation, a replacement weld filler wire was selected
and another sample made. All tests were completed successfully.
