What materials can be twisted? Any material
can be twisted, given the correct temper and OD-to-wall-thickness
ratio (aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, titanium, copper,
CuNi).
When it comes to size variations, Delta t has the capability to make
processes (machines and tooling) to manufacture your parts. If an
application has the volume of parts to justify building a machine to
make larger or longer tubes, we will build it. We do have the
capability to make samples of larger diameter DELTATWIST™ tubes on a
machine that is not fast enough for production.
With our current machines we have the ability to twist up to about
the following sizes:
-
Aluminum 2.75" OD x .049" wall
-
Copper 2.25" OD x .028" wall
-
CuNi 2.0" OD x .028" wall
-
Carbon Steel 2.0" OD x .028" wall
-
Stainless Steel 1.5" OD x .035" wall
The longest tube we can currently twist (without a
weld) is one that has a raw length of 22 feet. The length after twisting
will be from about 15 to 21 feet depending upon the the twist
configuration.
Welding multiple pieces together can make an unlimited length of
tube. The tubes are welded together twist-to-twist, so there is
continuous twist with only plain tube at the tube ends.
